* Titta, Gio Battista or Giovan Battista Marcelli is considered one of the greatest fencing masters, if not the greatest ever. No opponent or student was able to beat him in combat. He remained in good shape until his death more than ninety years. We don't know whether the date 1683 reported in the corresponding box, as well as those of other Marcelli fencing masters corresponds to the year of death or the climax of their careers.

* Titta o Gio Battista, o Giovan Battista Marcelli  è considerato uno dei più grandi maestri di scherma, se non il più grande di sempre. Nessun avversario o allievo riuscì a batterlo in un combattimento. Si mantenne in ottima forma fisica fino alla morte, avvenuta oltre i novant'anni. Non è dato di sapere se la data 1683 riportata nel corrispondente riquadro, come pure quelle degli altri Marcelli, maestri di scherma, corrisponda all'anno della morte oppure dell'apice di carriera.
